Live Nation Malaysia said that Coldplay tickets purchased from scalpers will be cancelled if the sale is found to have breached terms and conditions.
This comes after they were complaints online regarding tickets getting resold by scalpers at exorbitant prices.

Live Nation Malaysia managing director Para Rajagopal told The Star that the tickets for the 22 November concert cannot be resold, as stated clearly in the terms and conditions.
However, no tickets have been cancelled so far because concert organisers can only act if they have enough proof.
Since it takes time to investigate, Live Nation Malaysia doesn’t want to accidentally victimise the innocent by cancelling tickets without evidence.

Para added that not all the tickets sold could be tracked, but the company would still keep tabs on resellers online and act on them.
So far, the concert organiser’s investigations showed no buyers buying more tickets than they were permitted to.
This further debunks the previous claim that a scalper managed to secure 400 tickets.

While incidents with scalpers infuriate any concert fans, Para said there were no laws in place to regulate the issue.
It took a show like Coldplay to open everybody’s eyes to what’s going on in our industry.

On the ticket sales day, there were also complaints that the site crashed. However, Live Nation Malaysia managing director Anita Baskaran said no such thing happened but admitted that the system lagged.

The verifications done at the back end to filter issues such as bots and fake credit cards also slowed the ticket-buying process.
If the system had crashed, we would not have been able to sell out in a matter of hours.

She said 400,000 were in line for the pre-sale queue for CIMB cardholders, while around 600,000 were in line during the general sale.

Netizens aren’t confident that scalpers will be held responsible
Ticket scalping isn’t a new phenomenon in the concert industry here. Hence, some netizens aren’t too confident that the scalpers will face repercussions in any way.
A netizen said the promise to cancel tickets sold by scalpers is akin to “cheap talk” because there was allegedly no way to track them.
Another netizen asked why the Live Nation in other countries could add security measures by including ID numbers on tickets but the concert organiser couldn’t do it here.
Not a credible threat, since you cannot track those tickets

In economics, we colloquially call it cheap talk https://t.co/Mm4ZZkhb61
Just a PR bluff. Do we really think they're going to spend any dime to do extra work?

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry advised everyone to purchase tickets from legitimate sales channels.
In a statement on 20 May, the ministry said buyers have the right to buy tickets based on their own affordability and at reasonable prices offered by sellers.
If there are elements of fraud in the ticket purchases, the ministry said buyers should lodge an official complaint.
