PDRM senior audio-video analyst ASP Latifah Abdul Aziz, 43, the seventh prosecution witness in the trial of preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew or Ebit Lew, told the Magistrate’s Court that 436 photographs related to the case were retrieved from a Samsung Galaxy A31 mobile phone.

Latifah said the phone was sent in a white envelope to the Cheras Selangor police forensic laboratory on 9 August 2021 at 3.20pm when she was on duty, The Star reported.

She examined the device to make sure it was not damaged and was functioning well before making a forensic analysis on the same day.

Aside from the 436 photographs, she found four video recordings and 219 screenshots.

Latifah said the extraction process on the mobile device was done with XRY software and it took about three hours to analyse the contents.

She then copied the data onto two PDRM compact discs (CD) equipped with security features.

One CD contained 436 photos and four video recordings while the second disc contained 219 screenshots from the Whatsapp application.

She said from her observation, the four video recordings shown in court on Thursday had not undergone any modification.

Celebrity preacher and philanthropist Ebit Lew, 37, faces 11 charges, including insulting the modesty of a woman in her 40s by sending lewd text messages and pictures to the victim’s phone number through Whatsapp between March and June 2021.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a five-year prison sentence or a fine or both, upon conviction.

The hearing continues on Friday, 12 May.

Previously, Ebit said the charges were a “test from God” and believed he had been set up. He was only informed about the charges when he was in Sabah for charity work.
