Political news has always churned out crazy and mind boggling stories, but former Member of Parliament for Bangi Ong Kian Ming’s statement today may just take the cake.

In a YouTube podcast session called “Keluar Sekajap”, former Umno leaders, Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Sufian Hamdan as well as Ong discussed current issues, including their ‘vacation’ from the political stage.

The podcast starts out with Ong suggesting that Khairy or Shahril should join DAP because the party does not have a prime ministerial candidate.

This came after the duo questioned Ong on whether or not they should consider joining DAP.

“Yes, it should be considered. Because DAP needs prime ministerial candidates and both of you fit the bill.”

The trio also discussed Khairy’s plans for his political career in the future and what he sees himself doing in the next coming years.

To this the former Member of Parliament for Rembau who had once held the position of Umno Youth Leader said:

I dismiss it (the question) by saying that I have retired. I’ll just end it. There’s no second act, there’s no Michael Jordan part two. (Previously) many people asked if I really wanted to contest in the PRN, (at that time) I said 80-20. Now it’s 90-10 where there is a 90 percent chance that I will retire.

In January, the Umno Supreme Council decided to fire Khairy and its member Tan Sri Noh Omar for alleged breach of discipline during the 15th general elections (GE15).

The supreme council also decided to suspend the membership of several other leaders, including Shahril.

Meanwhile, adding on to the podcast content, Shahril insisted that he will not contest in the next state election (PRN) due to him being a member of Umno.

He added that there is a 99 percent chance that he will not be contesting in the upcoming PRN.
