Malaysian Actress Nuha Jes Izman Makes Hollywood Debut In Yellowjackets

Malaysian actress Nuha Jes Izman, 20, made her Hollywood debut in the second season of Yellowjackets.
Nuha plays the character Crystal, a member of the Yellowjackets soccer team and a theatre kid, who’s also Misty Quigley’s best friend from the past.
Misty is one of the main characters played by Christina Ricci (adult Misty) and Samantha Hanratty (teen Misty).
Crystal’s first appearance in the show was when Misty caught the musical theatre enthusiast singing a show tune as she exited the bathroom.
Nuha told Hollywood Life she was into musical theatre as a kid so it was quite easy to channel the character.
Her sweet and innocent portrayal of Crystal won many fans. Due to Misty’s troublesome past and present, the fans soon voiced worries that Crystal might be killed off early.
Nuha said she is aware of the conversation about her character’s fate online.
Nevertheless, she spoke highly of her co-stars especially Samantha Hanratty since they had much in common.
As the weeks progressed, we realized we had a little too much in common. The casting directors on this show are phenomenal. I have no idea how they knew we were going to click instantly.

How she got her start
After high school, Nuha worked hard, sought scholarships, and auditioned online secretly to make her Hollywood dreams come true.
My final year, I auditioned in secret, in my bedroom at 3am on Skype callbacks. My parents didn’t have the money to send me anywhere, so I applied for scholarships and figured it out. I’ve always been the type to do something and then apologise later. It was always very clear from the get-go that I had to make it work because I wanted it so badly.

Nuha eventually relocated to New York five years ago as she was determined to make her acting career work.
A graduate from the prestigious Stelle Adler Studio of Acting, Nuha, was waitressing in a café when she was offered an audition for the show.
She told The Face that she quickly memorised her lines and sent off her audition tape, thinking it was her worst acting work ever.
She didn’t hear anything back for two months. Fortunately, she got the highly-awaited call. The producers loved her and asked if she could fly out the next day to work.
Thankfully, all her hard work and determination paid off.
What is the show Yellowjackets about?
Yellowjackets is an American thriller drama centred around a high school girls’ soccer team who got stranded in the wilderness when their plane crashed while flying over Canada. The show chronicles the group’s attempt to survive and also their lives 25 years later following their rescue.
The show has been praised for its thrilling storyline and excellent acting from the cast, featuring both veterans and new faces in Hollywood.
Some of the cast members include Elijah Wood, Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nelisse, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Ella Purnell, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Jack DePew, Sophie Thatcher, Juliette Lewis, Kevin Alves, and Andres Soto.
