Dr Muhammad Radzi Is New Health DG

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said Dr Muhammad Radzi’s appointment was based on his qualifications and vast experience.

Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan has been appointed as the new Health director-general effective 21 April, said the Ministry of Health today.

In a statement, Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa announced that Dr Radzi was appointed based on his qualifications and vast experience as the Health deputy director-general in charge of research and technical support.

I am confident with the experience, knowledge and expertise as well as credibility of Dr Radzi, he can give his best and be part of the team ensuring that the objectives and agenda of health reforms can be done holistically in line with the Health White Paper.

In her statement, she also pointed out that Dr Radzi previously served as the Medical Department head at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Kedah.

He was also the Kedah Clinical Research Centre Department Head and was previously appointed as the National Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

A week ago, former Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the man who played a crucial role during the Covid-19 pandemic, called it a day after serving the country for 35 years.

According to several news reports, he clocked out for the last time at the Health Ministry at around 4.20pm on Wednesday (April 19).
