A Facebook user recently posted about facing a dilemma in choosing young babysitters for his son.

The netizen, who referred to himself as Abam, said his wife tasked him to find a babysitter so he registered on a babysitter site to look.

However, he felt spoiled for choice because all the babysitters listed on the website are young women between the ages of 20 and 40. He said he tried looking for “aunties” on the site but there were none.

He said he felt guilty if he proceeded to hire any of the babysitters, adding that the video call option to chat with the potential babysitters made him feel “weak.”

At the end of the post, he asked his followers whether they were interested. If they were, they could contact him for the details.

His post unsurprisingly drew inappropriate comments from men; some believed to be fathers.

At the time of writing, his original post was deleted, but netizens uploaded copies of the post.

A netizen Nad Masrom expressed her disappointment with the behaviours shown by the men in the comments.

She sympathised with the capable women who were trying to make a living by being good babysitters, but they have to deal with perverted men.

Nad said not all men are like this and she has used babysitter apps with her husband.

This man [Abam] made perverted jokes and publicly invited other men to pretend to be fathers to be perverts as well on his post.

She turned the tables on him and asked how he would feel if someone used his daughter’s picture and posted it online in the same manner.

If your daughter’s photo is shared one day by a man who’s also a father, how will you feel?

On Facebook, Abam allegedly wrote to say his posts have always been jokes. He shared that his number of followers has increased and reiterated that all he wanted to do was to share the babysitter website with no other intentions.

Netizens praised Nad for speaking out on behalf of the babysitters.

Another babysitter site Kiddocare also expressed their disappointment in seeing babysitters getting treated in a disrespectful manner.

The incident also reminds everyone not to make light of or normalize such “jokes.” A few netizens said what the men did was shameful and urged others to make the names of these men go viral so that their wives knew what they were up to.
