Malaysian singer Sam Bunkface has refused to remain silent over the accusations made by his ex-wife, Aida Azira Hussin regarding alleged neglect of responsibility towards their only child, Maleeq.

Shamsul Anuar Baharom, or better known as Sam Bunkface, said that he needed to speak out to clear his name and family.

In a video shared on Instagram, which has since gone viral on social media platforms, Sam said:

I have never neglected my responsibility and child support even for a month. I am ready to pay more and take care of Maleeq for two weeks, taking turns with Aida every month.

The 35-year-old singer also commented on the reason for submitting an application to amend their child support two years ago, from RM1,300 to a more affordable amount.

Maleeq’s care is equal, I take care of him for two weeks, Aida for two weeks in a month. Doesn’t it make sense? I requested this amendment during the Movement Control Order (MCO) season, when my source of income was very limited and my business has been affected for over two years.

He added:

Even though my responsibilities increased and the MCO continued, I still carried out my responsibilities by taking care of Maleeq for two weeks without fail, while the maintenance was still paid every month. The cost of me taking care of Maleeq for two weeks is about RM250, why does she need RM1,300?

Furthermore, Sam also revealed that he had not seen his son for quite some time due to Aida moving Maleeq to Melaka without his consent.

The last time I saw Maleeq was on 19 December last year. I haven’t seen him in three months. That is because there are obstacles. Aida has moved Maleeq to Masjid Tanah, Melaka since July last year without my permission and knowledge. A month later I asked where Maleeq was, she replied ‘talk to my lawyer’. I was worried so I sent a letter to her lawyer, but there was no response. After being asked several times, Aida told me Maleeq was in Melaka.

Sam added that the problem is that Aida works in Kuala Lumpur, so the one looking after their son is her mother.

Despite this she still looks forward to such a high alimony.

Since going viral, the video also gained several comments criticizing Aida for her actions.

I’m all for supporting women, but some women can be so vile and evil when it comes to parental alienation. There are many cases I’ve known of where the mothers would manipulate things to alienate the child/children from their fathers. Even when the dads are responsible fathers. Some men memang dayus and don’t make an effort to be responsible fathers. But other men are good fathers that were denied from being one because their ex pulls up this “the father doesn’t make an effort to be a father” sob story card. He pays for ample custody, kan? Nak apa lagi?

She added:

I pity their child sebab this will cause him many psychological and emotional issues as he grows up. He’ll think his parents neglected him, that his dad distanced himself from him, and many more. Tak kesian ke buat anak macam tu?

The divorce aside, his son has to stay with his mum for 2 weeks and his dad for 2 weeks. Anyone ever imagine how a child would undergo such a situation? Cos of his parents. True what people say, we can’t choose who our parents are but we certainly can choose our life partner.
