Fariz Ammar Abdullah, the acting Johor Bahru Utara district police chief has confirmed receiving a report on Monday (27 March) at 2.59pm.

According to Fariz, the incident took place near a veterinary clinic in Taman Impian Emas, Skudai, Johor Bahru.

He stated that a member of the public had reported a stray animal being beaten and burned alive, and the attacker is believed to be a Malaysian, as reported by Malay Mail.

“The purpose of the report is so that the case can be referred to the veterinary services department for them to investigate the abuse of the animals,” Fariz said as reported by Free Malaysia Today.

The investigation has been opened under the Section 29 of the Animal Welfare Act which covers the act of cruelty against animals and the offence is liable of a punishment of three years in prison, a fine between RM20,000 to RM100,000 or both if convicted.

In the CCTV camera footage that was shared on social media, it can be seen that the abuser did not only attack the animals once but three times.
