Sahur is the practice of having a pre-dawn light meal before fasting for Muslims in Ramadan.

Recently a post on TikTok went viral when a user known as @sandrassetiawan_ shared what looked like a loud parade in Taman Setia, Balakong.

@sanderssetiawan_ Jarang tak meriah, mcm mn lagi malam raya nanti 🥰 #tradisi #kejutsahur #sahur #ramadhan #ramadan #bawean #bawenese #pulaubawean #baweanisland #baweantourism #baweanmalaysia #baweanbalakong #balakong ♬ bunyi asal – Sanders Setiawan 🇮🇩🐻🇲🇾

According to a report by the New Straits Times, a group of Boyan youngsters playing a plastic water drum and a tamborine would go around waking people up for sahur while reciting the salawat.

This activity has triggered a debate among netizens on whether it was right to be that loud so early in the morning.

One Twitter user renarked how this was not how it should have been done.

Meanwhile, some say that there is no harm in doing such things as it actually helps people to wake up on time for sahur.

Others consider it to be a nuisance especially for mothers and kids as well as non Muslims who are not observing the fast.

While all this was going on, a netizen came forward and reminded that all of us should practice tolerance as our country is a multiracial country.

Both sides have a valid point in their argument of the activity being right or wrong. What are your thoughts on it?
