The journey home from school ended up being the last for a 9-year-old girl in Kampung Telok Gong, Port Klang yesterday morning after she was killed in an accident involving a trailer at 11.45 am.

Morni Mamat, the director of Selangor’s Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), said the accident involved a trailer and a motorcycle which was ridden by a 54-year-old babysitter who was bringing the girl and a 7-year-old boy home.

From the media statement released by the police, the babysitter lost control of the motorcycle due to the condition of the road which was sandy, causing the bike to lose grip.

The babysitter suffered a broken right hand and the boy escaped with injuries on his head, while the girl died on the spot.

The woman and the boy were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) Klang for treatment while the victim’s body was turned over to the police for further action.

The trailer driver who is a 36-year-old man was beaten by the people on the scene causing him to suffer injuries on his face.

A netizen shared that not only was he beaten but his dashcam was stolen from the vehicle.

However, another netizen known as @frhsk6 shared a dashcam recording from a vehicle on the other side of the road.

Although investigation into the accident has not concluded, some were of the opinion that the trailer driver was not at fault.

This incident raised many questions.

This was not the first case this year where a student died in an accident. Another schoolgirl died when she was hit by a drunk who crashed into 3 children who waiting for their transport to go to school earlier this month, as reported by Free Malaysia Today.

Safety is the utmost priority when it comes to being on the road because the mistake made by a driver or a rider would not only endanger them but also others.
