The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) recently announced that Muslims in the state are banned from attending any events conducted in other houses of worship such temples and churches.

In the media release, state exco for religious affairs Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said although the state government welcomes the effort of non-governmental organisations conducting activities in the form of instilling values of tolerance and understanding between religions, they still had to adhere to the rules set by JAIS.

….NGO needs to be more careful in organising programmes that involve religious sensitivity and if there is any doubt, NGO leaders can refer to Jais and the Mufti’s office for further questions
