The win for Yeoh is not only an achievement for her but it is an achievement for all Asian actresses and actors. Especially for us Malaysians, it is very special as she is an Ipoh girl herself.

Her phenomenal performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once allowed her to beat the other great nominees in the category.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that her achievements has made the country proud on the international stage.

In a lighthearted manner, former finance minister Lim Guan Eng asked if tomorrow is a public holiday, considering how Malaysians love asking for public holidays whenever there is a big win.
