Lance Corporal In Kangar Allegedly Shoots Wife In The Face

A policeman with the rank of lance corporal was arrested yesterday for allegedly shooting his wife at Kampung Bendang Baru, Simpang Empat in Kangar, Perlis.
According to Kangar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop, the incident happened at the couple’s home at 6am.
Yusharifuddin said that the suspect reportedly fired over five shots at close range, striking the victim in the left eye and causing immediate death, as reported by the News Strait Times.
He also added that the suspect’s mother-in-law, father-in-law, and a nephew who lived in the home all fled as soon as the shooting began.
The police were notified of the incident at about 7.30am by one of the wife’s family members and the officers arrived on scene at about 8am.
The suspect refused to surrender, and police had to barge in and arrest the suspect while he was still holding the gun with his wife’s body lying on the bed in a room in the house.
Yusharifuddin stated that the suspect spent the last four years working at the Perlis Police Contingent Headquarters.
The victim’s body was sent to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital for an autopsy.
A remand order will be applied today and the case is being probed for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, as reported by The Star.
The motive behind the incident is still under investigation.
