In January 2023, a 17-year-old girl Zoe Gabriel (@zohtaco) was shamed on Tiktok after gushing about having her first luxury Charles & Keith bag from her father.

Ill-hearted netizens had a problem with the word “luxury” as they didn’t consider Charles & Keith as a high-end brand.

Although the mean comments hurt Zoe, she responded kindly and inadvertently educated others about privilege.

Her story garnered support from netizens and it even reached the brand. The company invited her to their headquarters for lunch with the founders and she went home with a few more bags.

She’s one of the brand’s models now

With International Women’s Day coming up on 8 March, Zoe recently landed an exciting role as a Brand Community Ambassador and a model for Charles & Keith’s celebration of the day.

On 4 March, Zoe shared a photo of herself on Instagram posing with Charles & Keith’s Alia Chain-Strap Crossbody Bag.

The purple bag is one of the brand’s best-selling bags. Zoe paired the purple bag with a grey dress and black thigh-high boots.

Aside from the cute purple, the Alia bag also comes in green and white, the colours of International Women’s Day.

A handwritten note also accompanied Zoe’s Instagram post:

“Women are like flowers: Our time and needs to grow may not always align, but that is okay.

We are like fields of poppy and lakes of lotus — diverse and bold in our differences, beautiful in our own ways.

This International Women’s Day, let us celebrate with compassion. Let us celebrate with equality through equity, the way flowers do.”
