PAS is calling for a stop of what it labels as “political intimidation” of Tiktokers critical of the current government.

The Islamist party’s information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin in a statement claimed there were “government apparatus” being used to intimidate and bully these Tiktokers.

Apart from that, Khairil alleged that these Tiktokers were being bullied and threatened by supporters of Pakatan Harapan (PH).

He labelled the action as uncivilised and rude, saying it was detrimental to the country’s democracy.

“This action is immoral and goes against the rights on politics and freedom of speech that was previously preached by the Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan. These TikTokers were pressured and intimidated by government apparatus because they were seen as influential and vocal,” he said.

He added that the Malaysia Madani concept should have no room for narrow-mindedness and inconsiderate behaviour.

Netizens were prompt to respond to Khairil’s statement, many calling out the political party for their irony and hypocrisy.

Another Twitter user @yazidyunus3 questioned where the fault lies in fighting against things that aren’t right.

We fight against things that are not right, where is the fault in that? On TikTok during the voting campaigns there were a lot of racist videos scaring the public about the May 13 incident, school students wearing skirts, and so on. Do you want to support things like that? Do you understand that racial unity is important?

What political intimidation?? Admin, if I make a video, accusing you of doing something you didn’t do, would you be alright with that? Which Mazhab of Islam teaches us that slanderers shouldn’t be taken seriously? What Mazhab is this?
