Nurul Izzah has confirmed that she’s no longer the senior adviser on economics and finance to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The former Permatang Pauh MP said she’ll be joining the secretariat formed by the advisory panel for the finance ministry as the co-chair.
According to Free Malaysia Today, the advisory committee chairman Hassan Marican has invited her to join the secretariat to help in their effort to strengthen the country’s and the rakyat’s economy.
On 3 January, many criticised prime minister Anwar Ibrahim for appointing his daughter as his senior adviser on economics and finance.
While he defended his choice, saying his daughter was qualified and working pro-bono, others felt it reeks of nepotism.

Anwar has since announced the members of the advisory committee on Tuesday (7 February) with former Petronas CEO Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican leading the charge.

The advisory committee decided to form the secretariat during the panel’s first meeting on Friday.
