Massive ‘spring cleaning’ in Umno? Its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told reporters that the party will be discussing the matter at its Supreme Council meeting tonight.
As reported by Bernama, Zahid said Umno would be embarking on a ‘grand scale house-cleaning’ with regard to those who sabotaged the party and its 15th General Election (GE15) candidates.
“I said in the recent Umno General Assembly, we will be doing a massive cleaning up, including those who sabotaged the party and party candidates in GE15, and this may include those who shot their own foot (self-sabotage) during the election,” he was quoted as saying.
Reporters had asked if Khairy Jamaluddin would face disciplinary action, to which Zahid said he could not reveal anything yet and would ’embargo’ the information until it was the right time.
Meanwhile, on Instagram, Khairy posted on his Stories that ‘Umno is a party for all and does not solely belong to the Supreme Council.’
The former Rembau parliamentarian said having differences of opinion with the party’s leadership and demanding for the democratic process to be respected does not mean a person is not loyal to the party.
