The Selangor state government has announced that it’ll bear the cost of mental health treatment for Selangor residents under the Selangor Mental Sihat (SEHAT) programme.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government will bear the cost of screening, psychiatric consultation, basic psychotherapy treatment, and medication for the first two weeks of mental health treatment.
The SEHAT programme is allocated RM222,600 to help those from lower-income groups get the mental health help they need.
Netizens online welcomed the initiative for making mental health treatment accessible to the public.
To apply for the programme, citizens need to download the Selangkah app. More information about the mental health initiative can also be found in the app.
The SEHAT programme was launched during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown to help manage the worrying mental health situation in the country.
