A recent viral video showed a man hitting a white Honda Civic with a bat in a parking lot. The shirtless man hit the car windows repeatedly while another man joined in by kicking the car.
While this is all happening, two women could be seen huddled near the back of the car. In another clip, a woman could be heard screaming at the shirtless man while a few people tried to keep them apart.
According to the police statement, the incident happened in the parking lot of Bintang Megamall in Miri, Sarawak.
Upon receiving a report around 11am yesterday (8 January), the police arrested six local men, aged between 19 and 34, believed to be involved in the fight.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons, and Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.
The motive of the fight has not yet been ascertained, but the police urge the public not to speculate on the incident as it could interfere with the investigation.
