He was having a picnic with 19 other friends from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Dungun, by the beach in Pantai Cherating, Pahang, but the group got separated by a large wave around 1.45pm.
According to Malay Mail, the victim’s friend said Adam was seen in a deeper area before disappearing from sight.
A couple holidaying at the beach came across the victim’s body today (8 January) at 7am and called 911.
The victim was found lying on his stomach about 8.6km from where he was reported missing.
The body was sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) for post-mortem.
Kuantan district police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the victim’s family members had confirmed his identity, and initial examinations had not revealed any sign of injuries on the body.
The unfortunate incident is a reminder to all to be careful of the waves and currents while holidaying by the seaside.
