Strong Winds And Rough Seas Warning Issued For Malaysian Coasts

MetMalaysia predicts strong winds and rough seas to occur at some Malaysian coasts until 14 January.

MetMalaysia issued a strong wind and rough seas warning (Category 1) in Section A, the Malaysian coasts.

The strong wind in the northeast is expected to reach 40-50 kmph with waves reaching 3.5m in the coastlines of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan until today (8 January).

A similar warning is also issued for the Sabah east coast from 11 to 14 January.

MetMalaysia says the strong winds and rough seas pose a danger to small boats, water activities, and water sports.

Under Section B for shipping, a strong wind and rough seas (Categrory 2) warning is issued with the northeast winds expected to reach 50-60 kmph and waves reaching a height of 4.5m.

The weather forecast is expected in north Condore and northwest Reef North waters until today.

The inclement weather is dangerous for all shipping and beach activities, such as fishing and ferry services.

The strong wind and rough seas (Category 1) warning is expected to occur on the coasts of Samui, Tioman, south Condore, north Bunguran, Reef North, and Layang-Layang island until today.

A similar warning is issued for east Palawan and Sulu from 11 to 14 January.
