When Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced his Cabinet line-up last month, what was glaringly missing was the Federal Territories Ministry.

Many have been asking about the FT Ministry and who would be its minister.

However, an announcement by Chief Secretary To The Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali puts an end to the mystery as the FT Ministry has now been restructured as a department under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department (PMD).

The head of the FT Department is a director-general and the position goes to Datuk Seri Rosida Jaafar.

Zuki, on Facebook, said he attended a briefing of the FT Department and agencies this morning with the prime minister at Menara DBKL (KL City Hall).

After the briefing, there was a meeting of the Federal Territories Interaction Council involving FT members of Parliament and the top management of the newly-restructured FT Department.

The council, according to Zuki, was a platform to discuss critical issues as well as proposals and implementation of development and policies for the wellbeing of the people, particularly those in the Federal Territories.

For the record, there are three FTs in Malaysia; Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
