Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is no stranger to the Parliament House.
He has sat in the August House both as a member of Parliament for various constituencies and as a minister.
The highest ministerial post he held was Deputy Prime Minister back in the 90s, when he was part of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
However, since his sacking in 1998 and subsequently forming PKR, he has not held a ministerial post.
Today’s parliament sitting is a historic one for the PKR president and Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman as he makes a return to the August House as Malaysia’s prime minister.
The first meeting of the first session of the 15th Parliament today will take place for two days.
It will see the swearing-in of members of Parliament and the appointment of the Speaker and deputy Speaker.
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan yesterday on Twitter noted that today would be a historical day.
Esok Isnin, Speaker baru #DewanRakyat akan dipilih/undi, #AhliParlimen akan mengangkat sumpah, usul undi percaya kpd #PerdanaMenteri DS @anwaribrahim akan dibahas & diundi.

Number eight on the order paper, according to Bernama, is the vote of confidence to determine Anwar’s legitimacy as the 10th prime minister.
The confidence vote is to prove that Anwar has the support of the majority of Dewan Rakyat members to lead the coalition government formed after the 15th General Election (GE15).
The coalition government is made up of PH, BN, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), among others.
