Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) was going through a difficult period.
When met during an interview at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya recently, Dr Mahathir was asked where Pejuang and the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition are headed given their poor showing in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Without elaborating, Dr Mahathir said he could not answer on their direction.
Dr Mahathir founded Pejuang and holds the position of chairman after leaving Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
“I’m not even (going) to say because Pejuang itself is going through a very difficult period,” he told The Rakyat Post briefly.
Meanwhile, in a report quoting a party source, Berita Harian said Dr Mahathir had resigned as Pejuang chairman.
According to the source, Dr Mahathir however would retain his position as chairman of GTA.
