PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the investigations against Sik PAS Youth Chief Shahiful Nasir and actor Zul Huzaimy for their inflammatory remarks are ongoing.

Rafizi lodged the reports at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters, Free Malaysia Today reported.

Shahiful and Zul were previously criticised by the public for their racist remarks during the campaign trail.

Both cases will be investigated under the Penal Code, the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998, and the Election Offences Act 1954.

Section 4A of the Election Offences Act 1954 relates to promoting feelings of ill-will or hostility during campaigning.

Rafizi added that he hoped all election candidates will learn a lesson from these incidents and not utilise racial sentiments for their campaign means.

The lawyers from PKR have also been instructed to review the campaigns of its candidates and opposing parties to see if they have broken the law.

What did Shahiful and Zul say?

Shahiful reportedly said those who vote for Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15) would end up in Hell.

He has since apologised to all affected parties and explained that the speech in the video only represented his views and not the party’s belief.

According to Free Malaysia Today, Shahiful has also applied for leave from his duties and other party positions on his own volition.

Zul Huzaimy, also known as Spark, was heard in a viral video saying he wanted to slaughter “kafir harbi” (enemies of Islam) during a speech in Kemaman, Terengganu on 4 November.

He alleged that “kafir harbi” are untrustworthy and will betray others the first chance they get.

According to Utusan, Zul said he didn’t go to that extreme and asked the rakyat to rewatch the full-length video for the true explanation.

He claimed that the short clip that went viral was taken out of context. He said the term “kafir harbi” does not refer to all non-Muslims but non-Muslims that hate the religion, love racism and create problems until the loud azan call is banned in some places.

He cited an alleged incident of a group playing the gendang drums loudly outside a mosque in Penang during Isyak.

These are the things that people should understand, what I meant is the Non-Muslims like these have to understand the issue.

Actor Zul Huzaimy aka Spark

PAS election director Sanusi Md Nor has since denounced the actor’s remarks after netizens questioned the party when Zul has been seen campaigning for PAS.
