It looks like former Johor menteri besar Hasni Mohammad, has turned down an invitation for a debate among candidates in the Simpang Renggam constituency, which includes Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate Maszlee Malik.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the seat explained that he was open to the suggestion for a debate but thinks it shouldn’t be held during the 15th General Election’s (GE15) campaign period.
Instead, he preferred to have dialogues with voters instead of debating with his rivals.
According to Free Malaysia Today, he had a short conversation with Maszlee regarding the matter and ultimately believes that a debate was unnecessary for the polls.
I think the people of Simpang Renggam aren’t interested in hearing (public debates) any more.

Previously, Maszlee Malik proposed that the contenders for the Simpang Renggam seat should hold a debate a day or two before polling day so voters could get to know the candidates’ plans for the constituency.
At the time, he said only Hasni had agreed to the debate.
The other two candidates vying for the Simpang Renggam seat are Perikatan Nasional’s Fazrul Kamat and Pejuang’s Kamal Kusmin.
