Those travelling on the MRT Kajang line around 6.30am today might get to work late.

There was a service disruption between the Phileo Damansara and Pusat Bandar Damansara stations due to a tree that had fallen onto the tracks.

Rapid KL employed an alternative route for commuters while clean up works were carried out. Those travelling from Kwasa Damansara had to change trains at the Semantan station to get to Kajang.

Commuters from Kajang also had to change trains at the Semantan station to get to Kwasa Damansara.

According to Rapid KL, the affected route was cleared two hours later around 8.15am and service has returned to normal.

Some commuters who were caught in the delay complained online regarding the service disruption during the morning rush to work.

A netizen said Rapid KL should have cleared the affected track way earlier to prevent crowding at the train stations.

Another netizen added that announcements should have been made at all train stations so that commuters could plan to take alternative transport to work.

One of the commuters expressed worry that his employer wouldn’t believe him if he said the train was late again.

Due to the lack of announcements, commuters who weren’t aware of the service disruption found themselves stuck inside the packed train for a long time without moving.

As for compensation, a netizen said all commuters should be given a free one-month pass for all their troubles.

Despite being told that service had returned to normal, the backlog meant some commuters were still waiting to get onto trains to work.
