Cops To Summon Man Seen In Video Vandalising Deepavali Kolam At A KPJ Hospital

The case is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill will.

Police are investigating a man for purposely destroying a Deepavali “kolam” as seen in a viral video, at the KPJ Klang Specialist Hospital.

According to North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao, the man in the video, will be summoned to the police station today to have his statement recorded.

The man was recently seen in a TikTok video stepping on a “kolam” and purposely vandalising it. Some netizens claimed he was a KPJ staff.

In response to the incident, KPJ Klang issued a statement saying that the hospital was aware of the video allegedly depicting its staff destroying the “kolam”.

“He will be called in to give his statement on Monday (today). We urge the public to be careful with their behaviour and to not do anything that would disrupt national harmony,” Rao was quoted as saying by The Star.

In response to the incident, KPJ Klang issued a statement saying that the hospital is aware of the video depicting its staff destroying the kolam.

“KPJ Klang does not condone any act of disrespect among its staff within the compound of the hospital.

“We have launched an internal investigation into the video and stern actions will be taken should our staff is involved,” read the statement.

Inside the now-viral video, a man clad in a blue baju Melayu complete with a songkok and a sampin was seen purposely stepping on a Deepavali kolam believed to be at KPJ Klang hospital compound.

Several of his friends were heard laughing while he stepped on the decoration.
