A 38-year-old woman in London has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering and decapitating a Malaysian woman.

According to Free Malaysia Today, Jenna Mitchell will serve at least 34 years in prison for killing Chong Mee Kuen, 67, in June 2021.

A post-mortem examination showed that Chong’s skull bore a fracture likely to be caused by being hit with a weapon.

There is the chilling aspect of what you did to and with her body after you killed her. You have shown absolutely no remorse and it appears you are in complete denial as to what you did, notwithstanding what in my judgment amounted to the overwhelming evidence against you.

A judge at the Old Bailey said while handing the sentence to Mitchell in the first case to be broadcast live on television.

What happened last year?

On 11 June 2021, Jenna Mitchell murdered and decapitated Chong before allegedly stuffing the victim’s body into a large blue suitcase.

The headless body was later dumped in the woods in Salcombe, Devon, on 26 June, and was found by holidaymakers the next day. The victim’s head was only found a few days later.

According to Sky News, Mitchell also forged a will that would leave a bulk of Chong’s estate, valued at approximately RM3.9 million (£700,000), to her and her mother, Hilary Collard.

Police arrested Mitchell in July, and she was charged the same month.

They were churchmates

Both women met through a church group. Chong was murdered after she allegedly backed out of an offer she made to invest more than RM1.1 million (£200,000) in renovating Mitchell’s rundown home in Willesden, northwest London.

Mitchell allegedly wanted to include a “church room with nature tweeting.”

Chong allegedly told Mitchell that it wasn’t logical to renovate the whole house when she didn’t have the funds to do so.

She also advised Mitchell to sell the £4 million house and use the money to live a simple life because “life is too short.”

The friendship deteriorated after that, with Chong telling Mitchell not to visit her on 8 June.

Until you sold house I won’t want you to come to me or my house. I’m stressed to the core.
