Kami tak takut, kami tak gentar (we are not afraid, we are not scared),” tweeted former Armada Bersatu chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman this morning.

This after he was ordered to enter his defence on several charges including money laundering by High Court judge Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid.

Ini masa untuk kami membela diri. Now is the time. Kami tak akan lari dari sistem kehakiman. It is not over yet,” he posted on Twitter. (This is the time for us to defend ourselves. We will not run from the justice system).

In a report by Free Malaysia Today, the judge made the call after finding that the prosecution managed to establish a prima facie case against Syed Saddiq.

The president of newly established political party Muda, was charged with abetting Armada Bersatu’s former assistant treasurer Rafiq Hakim, in committing criminal breach of trust (CBT) of RM1 million at CIMB Bank Bhd, Jalan Stesen Sentral 2 in Kuala Lumpur on 6 March, 2020.

With him being the head of Armada Bersatu at the time, he was entrusted with control of the youth wing’s funds.

Other charges faced by Syed Saddiq are misusing RM120,000 from Armada Bumi Bersatu Enterprise’s bank account and two counts of money laundering involving two transactions of RM50,000 each.

The amount from the money laundering charges were believed to be proceeds from unlawful activities.
