Five ‘Ah Long’ Suspects Nabbed By Johor Police For Illegal Loan Shark Activities And Threatening Lenders

Five local men allegedly involved in illegal moneylending activities and threatening borrowers who failed to repay their loans have been detained by the Johor police contingent.

According to Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, the five suspects aged between 23 and 41, were detained yesterday (18 October) in Iskandar Puteri.

“They were arrested in several raids from around 9.30am to 3pm by our men from the Criminal Investigation Department,” he was quoted as saying by The Star.

Comm Kamarul Zaman also added that the ‘ah longs’ are believed to have been in operation for the past three years.

He also added that with these arrests, the police have managed to solve several open cases related to loan shark activities.

“There were 18 cases in the Iskandar Malaysia and Kluang areas, and one in Bercham, Ipoh,” he said.
