Caretaker Senior Education Minister Datuk Radzi Jidin clarified that the current syllabus for primary school has been in place since 2017 before he was appointed to his position.
According to Radzi, a new syllabus would take a lengthy process before it could be implemented into our school system.
“The syllabus being used today started in 2017. This is not Radzi Jidin’s syllabus.
“The syllabus cannot be changed every year. Once a new syllabus is introduced, it will complete one cycle in schools before a new one is used,” Radzi was quoted as saying by New Straits Times.
He said this during the launch of the Reading Progress initiative in Shah Alam today.
Radzi said that the current syllabus for the primary school will complete its cycle this year while the secondary school student’s syllabus ran its course last year.
Previously, a primary school teacher who raised concerns about the primary school mathematics syllabus being too advanced for students on Facebook has been reprimanded by the Education Ministry.
