2 Primary School Students Critically Injured In School Van Crash On SKVE

The van driver was believed to have lost control of the van before crashing into a road divider at Km6.7 of the SKVE.

Two schoolchildren were critically injured after the school van they were on crashed into a road divider at Km6.7 of the South Klang Valley Expressway yesterday at about 2pm.

The duo was part of 12 SJKT Serdang students making their way home during the incident.

The critically injured children are being warded at the Serdang Hospital.

Four other schoolchildren who were also injured received treatment in the yellow zone of the hospital, while the remaining six were given outpatient treatment.

According to New Straits Times, the victims suffered multiple injuries, including fractures to the head, arms and legs.

The accident also left the 35-year-old van driver with a broken leg.

Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said that the school van was on its way from Kajang towards the Ayer Hitam toll plaza before crashing into the road divider.

“The driver of the van is believed to have lost control of it before it crashed into the road divider,” Wan Kamarul Azran was quoted as saying.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
