Majority Of Terminal Diseases Patients Are From The B40 Group, Says Health Minister

The majority of critical disease patients such as cancer, heart and lung-related ailments in the country are from the B40 group.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said that this was down to tobacco usage.
“This is because the B40 group is the (main) target group for the sale of tobacco products by these companies,” Khairy was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.
He said this after launching the Health Ministry’s latest website, KKMNOW, an expansion of the CovidNow portal which features data and updates for the public.
The Rembau MP said that the portal is a collaboration between the ministry and the Statistics Department in order for the public to better understand the country’s healthcare system and situation.
According to New Straits Times, the data made available on the portal includes the nationwide medicine stocks, blood availability, hospital bed usage, diseases statistics and ambulance response time from MERS999.
Khairy also said that the health ministry hoped to include road accident data from the police, floods and other related agencies in the future.
“You may ask why or how traffic accidents or floods are related to the ministry. As we know accidents may have casualties and their treatment may need blood.
“Floods too are known to spread diseases, thus, it’s relevant data for the ministry,” said Khairy.
