A family luncheon at a restaurant in Taman Sutera, Johor Baru turned into tragedy after a two-year-old boy died after falling down from a baby chair at 3pm yesterday.
According to the Johor Baru North deputy OCPD Supt Fariz Ammar Abdullah, the toddler was placed on a baby chair while the family enjoying their lunch.
“During the course of the meal, the child suddenly pushed the table with his feet, causing the baby’s chair to tip and fall before the boy’s head hit the floor.
“He then cried loudly (out of pain) before losing his consciousness,” Fariz was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.
The incident was also witnessed by the restaurant’s staff.
The victim’s father then rushed him to a private clinic for treatment but he was advised to bring his child to a hospital due to the severity of his condition.
“The child was then brought to a private hospital in Iskandar Puteri where the toddler was pronounced dead by a medical officer there.”
The body was then sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) for post-mortem to identify the cause of the death but the cop ruled out any criminal element.
