19YO Girl Faces Death Penalty After Boyfriend’s Death In Johor

She allegedly stabbed him with a knife in an attempt to fend off her boyfriend’s sexual advances.

On 20 September, 19-year-old Sim Hui Ying allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Yap Kelly, with a knife to death at a hotel in Taman Mount Austin in Johor Baru.

She allegedly tried to fend off her 29-year-old boyfriend’s sexual advances when the attack happened around 8pm.

She later reported the incident to the police with help from her family.

According to Malay Mail, she was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with killing her boyfriend on Thursday, 29 September.

Sim, who wasn’t represented by a lawyer, nodded her head after the charge was read out to her in Mandarin in front of Magistrate R. Salini.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused after the charge was read out.

She’s charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.

The mention date is set for 6 December when the chemistry and autopsy reports will be submitted.

Previously, Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the teenager was remanded for seven days starting 21 September.
