A motorcyclist who stopped by a roadside stall to buy food in Setapak Jaya was a victim of a snatch thief on Tuesday, 20 September.
In the CCTV recording that went viral on Whatsapp, the snatch thief could be seen following behind the victim on a motorcycle before making a U-turn.
The snatch thief slowly rode past the victim and then quickly yanked the necklace when the victim wasn’t looking.
The victim and the people from the roadside stall could only look in shock as the snatch thief rode away.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the police are looking for the suspect and the case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.
In the police report, it’s stated the suspect rode a blue-black Yamaha 135LC motorcycle and wore a red helmet and a long-sleeved dark shirt.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward as soon as possible to help with the investigation.
