A road accident involving several vehicles caused one death and left another with serious injuries on Friday noon (23 September).

The accident took place around 2.30pm at the Jalan Meru/ Jalan Haji Sirat traffic light intersection in Klang.

The dashcam video showed two delivery riders waiting at the front of the traffic light while two Nissan X-Trails on the other side of the road were about to make a right turn.

However, one of the X-Trails suddenly sped up and made a fast turn and knocked an alleged Lalamove rider, who stopped next to a Grabfood rider.

At the same time, the second X-Trail didn’t see the speeding X-Trail and knocked into it, and rammed the Grabfood rider, who narrowly escaped the first crash.

The police report stated that the second X-Trail also ploughed into a Proton Wira on the other side of the road.

Sadly, the 34-year-old Grabfood rider died at the scene, while the other 29-year-old Lalamove rider suffered serious injuries and was sent to the hospital.

The drivers of both X-Trails, aged 20 and 24, have been arrested to help with investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Anyone with information is urged to contact the lead investigator, Inspector Mohd Fadli bin Ismail at 017-2141318.

Members of the public are reminded to drive safely, be alert on the road, and follow the road rules.

Some netizens expressed shock when they found out that the drivers were very young.

Due to their dangerous driving, a few of them wondered whether the driving licenses of both drivers could be revoked.

Another netizen believes the second X-Trail was in the right of way and the other speeding X-Trail was at fault.
