A pair of lovebirds were found dead in a car outside a community hall in Ayer Limau, Alor Gajah earlier this morning, reported The Star.

According to Melaka deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Razali Abu Samah, the victims are believed to have died due to carbon monoxide poisoning, with the police already ruling out any criminal element in the case.

SAC Razali said the 20-year-old male and his 16-year-old girlfriend were found dead at around 9.25 am today, adding that the men-in-blue is now trying to contact the deceased family members to assist in their investigation.

“We are trying to find out whether their relationship was objected to by any of the family members or any other reasons that could have led to the incident,” he was quoted as saying.

He said that based on preliminary investigation, the 16-year-old female victim was sent by a friend to meet with her boyfriend at the community hall at 4pm yesterday.

He also added that the police is waiting for the autopsy reports on the actual cause of death.
