A woman, Nur Hatini, tried to help her mother, who’s paralysed and bedridden, to renew her expired bank card.

However, she received an unsympathetic service from the bank in Gurun, Kedah.

When she called the bank, she was told that her mother needs to be in the bank in person in order to renew the bank card.

Nur Hatini had no choice but to call St John’s Ambulance to help move her mother from the house to the bank.

In the TikTok video, Nur Hatini said her car wasn’t suitable to transport her bedridden mother so she had to fork out money to hire an ambulance for the day.

The paramedics also had to help push her mother in and out of the bank while she lay on the bed. One can only imagine how embarrassed Hatini’s mother felt during the whole process.

In an update, Hatini alleged that the bank blocked her mother’s account and they couldn’t withdraw the money needed to purchase the necessities such as adult pampers.

When she called the bank for clarification, she was then told to contact the bank’s manager instead.

Hatini explained that her mother receives a pension through that bank account and they’re now struggling because her father’s pension wasn’t much either.

Netizens expressed their disappointment at the bank for handling the situation poorly.

In cases like these, a netizen said the bank has a wireless thumbprint scanner and they could have gone to the customer’s house to carry out the whole card renewal process.

The others compared the service provided by the other banks which were much more efficient and thought out.

Hopefully, the bank improves its customer service after what happened to Hatini and her mother.

TRP is waiting for a statement from Public Bank regarding this incident.
