Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and his celebrity wife Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad were ordered to enter their defence on corruption charges linked to RM2.8 million in unit trust investments.

According to Sinar Daily, the Kuala Lumpur Session Court Judge Rozina Ayob ruled that a prima facie case was established by the prosecution against the duo.

Bung Moktar, 64, was charged with three counts of accepting bribes totalling RM2.8 million as kickbacks to obtain Felcra Berhad’s investment of RM150 million in Public Mutual unit trust products.

He was accused of committing the offences between 12 to 19 June 2015, while he was the then non-executive chairman of Felcra.

Zizie Izzette, 44, meanwhile was charged with abetting him.

Both the accused had pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The case will resume in September with both the accused opting to give their evidence under oath.
