18 KL Roads To Be Closed For Merdeka Day Parade Rehearsals

Some roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed for rehearsals in the run-up to National Day.

18 roads around the city will be closed from Friday to Wednesday (26 to 31 August) for the 65th National Day Parade.

According to The Star, city police chief Commissioner Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said Jalan Sultan Hishammuddin towards Dataran Merdeka and Jalan Raja would be closed on Friday for a skeleton crew rehearsal from 6am to 12pm.

Full rehearsals will be carried out from Saturday to Monday (27 to 29 August). Due to this, Jalan Raja, Jalan Travers, Jalan Damansara, Bulatan Hishammuddin and Jalan Kinabalu toward Cheras and Selayang will be closed.

He added that there’ll be no road closures on Tuesday, 30 August.

However, some roads would be closed for the Merdeka Day Parade on 31 August. The roads that would be closed on that day are:

  • Jalan Raja
  • Jalan Travers
  • Jalan Damansara
  • Bulatan Hishamuddin
  • Jalan Kinabalu
  • Jalan Kuching
  • Bulatan Dato Onn
  • Jalan Tun H. S. Lee
  • Jalan Hang Lekiu
  • Jalan Hang Kasturi
  • Jalan T. A. Rahman
  • Jalan Raja Laut
  • Jalan Munshi Abdullah
  • Jalan Dang Wangi
  • Jalan Bunus 6

Those who wish to see the Merdeka Parade, they’re advised to use public transport and to come early to avoid getting caught in traffic.

Parking spaces are also limited and can be found at Masjid India in front of the Dang Wangi police headquarters, Jalan Sultan Salahuddin and the multi-storey car park near Bukit Aman.

E-hailing vehicles are also urged to drop off passengers near Masjid India and Jalan Parlimen.

Azmi reminded members of the public not to park illegally and obstruct traffic flow.
