A pair of couples believed to be connected with a drug syndicate that distributes various types of drugs in Klang Valley worth around RM1.2 million was nabbed by the police.

According to The Star, the lovebirds, a Malaysian national and his Vietnamese girlfriend were picked up by the cops on 10 August.

The couple was detained in a hotel at the One Puchong Business Park, said Serdang district police chief ACP AA Anbalagan.

Seized together were multiple drugs including syabu and ecstasy pills.

“The couple’s modus operandi is to repack all the drugs into smaller packets for distribution around the Klang Valley.

“This syndicate is believed to be active for the past six months and the seized drugs are believed to be enough for the consumption of 50,000 addicts,” he was quoted as saying.

He added that the men in blue are currently identifying whether the suspects, both in their 20s, processed the drugs themselves or obtained them from other sources.

The suspects are currently under remand while the case is being investigated in accordance with Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
