The police in Dubai patrol the streets in Lamborghinis so it’s only fitting that our Malaysian police patrol with the King of the Road aka the Malaysian ‘sportscar’, the Perodua Myvi. After all, the Myvi can do anything!

In an announcement yesterday (11 August), PDRM will receive a line of newly outfitted Perodua Myvi for patrolling purposes as part of the initiative between Perodua’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the police.

There are only five car units to date and only selected police stations will receive the new Perodua Myvi patrol vehicle. So far, two vehicles have been distributed to the police in Ulu Yam Bharu and Serendah in the Hulu Selangor district.

The new line of Myvi is built and outfitted by SM Offroad and Outdoor Equipment (SMOE), a company in Banting that sells components and accessories for 4X4 vehicles.

The Myvi model used as patrol cars is not Myvi 2022 but the highest variant of the pre-facelift, the 1.5L AV.

According to CariCarz, the car uses a naturally aspirated 2NR-VE petrol engine with a maximum output of 102 hp/137 Nm. Power is channelled to the wheels using a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Myvi patrol cars are easily recognizable thanks to the police logos emblazoned all over the car.

However, what’s also striking is the car’s Glittering Silver colour since most patrol cars are white in colour.
