Air Selangor announced that the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant will temporarily stop working due to water contamination in Sungai Semantan, Karak in Pahang around 4.30am on 11 August 2022.

The water contamination in the river was caused by an accident along the Karak-Bentong Highway KM75.9 heading towards Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Due to the contamination, some areas in Kuala Lumpur (172 areas), Petaling (3 areas) and Hulu Langat (222 areas) will face water cuts from 10am onwards today (11 August).

The Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant is expected to be fully functional around 3.30pm today to carry out the water treatment process.

The treated water will be channelled to households in stages once everything stabilises.

Meanwhile, water tankers are dispatched to the affected locations with priority given to critical premises.
