Ampang MP Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin was announced as the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president-designate by its president Larry Sng.

The announcement was made during a press conference in Zuraida’s constituency yesterday, which was held to officially announce the Plantation Industries and Commodities minister as PBM member.

Sng, who is also the Julau MP, said that the party’s supreme council and political bureau had unanimously agreed for Zuraida to lead the party’s discussion with other parties in preparation for the upcoming 15th general election.

“In absence of myself unable to attend meeting, of course the president-designate will take lead. We also decided she will lead PBM.

“PBM has already given the mandate for her to lead delegations to meet other party leaders in terms of membership and coalition,” Sng was quoted by Malay Mail.

Zuraida meanwhile said that she is happy to be able to join the party and vowed to repay the faith shown to her.

“God willing, I will be of service anywhere I am and make sure PBM becomes relevant in the country.”

Zuraida had on 26 May announced that she is leaving Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) while also expressing her willingness to relinquish the Cabinet post that she held.
