Travellers from Malaysia and Thailand are allowed to use the Thai Border Pass to enter the two countries starting 5 May.

However, only residents from Perlis, Kedah, North Perak and Kelantan are allowed to use the border pass and allowed to stay in Thailand for 3 days.

According to The Star, travellers or tourists who want to use the border pass need to apply through the Thailand Pass website 24 hours before departure.

Perlis Border Relations and Cooperation Committee chairman Ruzaini Rais said travellers or tourists from Thailand who use the border pass are also allowed to travel back and forth into the country as long as they had been fully vaccinated.

The same SOPs imposed during the reopening of the country’s borders on 1 April still apply to tourists or travellers who used passports to enter Malaysia.

They are also required to have travel insurance and undergo a health screening first.
