A dispute over money led a man in his 40s to attack and hacks his own son in an incident in Teluk Bahang, Penang last Monday.
According to Bernama, the man, which tested negative for drugs, was detained by the police soon after the incident which occurred around 8.30pm.
Barat Daya district police chief Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal said that the self-employed man attacked his son, who is in his 20s, using a sharp weapon.
The victim, who was injured in the back was sent to Balik Pulau Hospital for treatment.
Kamarul also confirms that the suspect was arrested at the location after the police were notified of the incident.
The case was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing harm with dangerous weapons.
