Caucasian Man Who Refused To Wear Mask In Ampang Supermarket Has Been Arrested

The Canadian man will be investigated under three different charges.

The maskless Caucasian man who verbally abused and made lewd gestures at the security guards at the Village Grocer M-City Ampang branch has been arrested.

He was arrested last night around 8.30pm after he presented himself for questioning at the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters.

According to the police statement, the 44-year-old man is a Canadian who works and resides in Kuala Lumpur.

The suspect is investigated under three different charges, namely:

  • Section 269 of the Penal Code for the negligent act likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life.
  • Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour with the intention to disturb peace or provoke someone.
  • Regulation 18 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) 2021.

Members of the public are also advised to adhere to SOPs as outlined by the Health Ministry.
