Reformasi princess and former PKR veep Nurul Izzah Anwar said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) will have to wait for at least another decade before it will be voted back into power.

The Permatang Pauh MP also expects PH to struggle in the 15th general election (GE15), saying that there are many out there that were left shocked with the opposition’s performance when they formed the federal government in 2018.

“I think it won’t be easy for PH to win the next general election and we must be prepared to lose two rounds before making a positive impact that will allow people to accept us once more.

“Why do I have a negative feeling about GE15? I am being very realistic because for me, it will take time to produce success, as people, and even I am still traumatized by what happened during the 22 months when PH was in power,” Nurul Izzah was quoted by Malay Mail.

She added that she was only being realistic with her assessment while pointing out that the public still remembers PH’s failed election manifestos.

Nurul Izzah however said there’s not much that PH can prove within 22 months of its rule, compared to Barisan Nasional (BN) who had been in power for six decades.

“If we want to compare PH and BN in terms of failing to fulfill their manifestos, the difference is great. If we want to evaluate how much of its manifesto BN managed to fulfill, it might get an ‘F’.

“For example, affordable houses for the B40 group were not fully realised. Now, I want to see how they will implement the RM1,500 minimum wage because, as of today, they have yet to finalise the exceptions for small and medium enterprises (SME), even though the policy will be enforced on May 1,” she said.

She however warned that all parties must not rest on their laurels and continue to perform well as there are still a lot of fence-sitters who have yet to decide which party to support.

Meanwhile, Nurul Izzah also said that he hopes to defend the Permatang Pauh seat in the next GE but left it to PKR to decide.
